The Green Sahara

The sahara became much more humid and wetter. This happened across much of the region, within a few centuries. The people who came to tokar qory rock shelter about ten thousand years ago were stepping into an environment that had only existed there for a brief period of time. River systems appeared all over the sahara, some of them very large. Near the rivers and lakes, galley forests and green grass lands grew up wonderfully welcoming environment for plant and animal life. Giraffes, elephants, hipp tamus orok, herds of grazers, lions, crocodiles made the most of their new home.
