The book is about how the brain can evolve and adjust to being deliberately practised on a certain area. The hippocampus, that whole section was like the spatial recognition part of the brain. He also explains why london taxi drivers have larger brains than normal people. And he says most people don't possess these extraordinary physical capabilities because they are satisfied with good enough. They live in the comfortable rut of homeostatis and never do the work required to get out of it.
