The way that the school is depicted is so much what white America wanted, wanted us to believe that black schools were alike. The pushback that they tried to kind of touch on a little bit in the film was real but only in the film, they villainized it. It really was a movie that just, I don't remember, it wasn't a huge hit because as much as people thought that people, you know, like, oh, yeah, they can't wait to see the Joe Clark movie.
