The Different Treatments of Slavery
In Leviticus 25, you may buy slaves from the nations around you. You can bequeat them to your children as inherited property and make them slaves for life. But you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly. In some places like Deuteronomy 21, which talks about a captive bride, here the picture is that the Israelites are to go to war.
