The Mask of a Serial Killer
He was able to maintain just a double life where he appeared to be just this like nerdy architect with this vast knowledge of building code in New York. But that's not who he is. He is a serial killer and the architect is like the mask he wears. We know that he's married, but his wife filed for divorce today. I'm sure he feels nothing. People like him don't feel anything. They can't. You can't stock your victim's families and revel in their pain and feel something for your own family. That just doesn't jive.
