Don't Throw to Pigs What They Can't Eat
Jesus uses a phrase associated with gentiles in order to highlight we are talking about peoples of god and not peoples of god right now. There's a sense like, well, don't throw to pigs what they can't eat, cause otherwise they'll just trample you throat. And there's also something there here about keeping your own house in order.
