Day builds a submarine and the town gathers to see it in action. The Maria is towed to a spot 130 feet deep. He goes inside with a candle, some biscuits,. drinking water, he closes it, he seals it. The sea cocks are released, basically holes in the bottom of the boat. It goes to sink immediately. And he was never seen again.
