How to Write a Book Without a Grand Plan
My next book will be a Slayer House book and I'm sure there'll be one after that but I don't have any grand plan. If a character is going to die then that is definitely there before I start. When I started writing Joe Country it came with a visual image which is unusual for me. A very chorserian one and it was a snow covered field with a tree in it and a character lying under the tree. So plotting Joe Country was a matter of getting to that point. Everything that happens was just a kind of excuse to arrive at that moment and then find out what happened afterwards. The deaths of characters are very important to me and I wouldn't trivialise
