The Importance of Artillery in the War of Independence

Blackjack Pershing is still a fan of many of those tactics, and he's been very slow to give heed to the French and British as they're saying. He also hasn't grasped the value of artillery, he's not turned that corner. So we've got kind of an old school approach and what artillery is being fired, it's just blown up over their heads. It's ineffective. And no longer like in 1863 are these men charging against maybe a sharp, repeating rifle that shoots 14 rounds a minute or against a single shot musket.
