How to Overcome Existential Poverty
Peeper says we've been trained to not be attentive to the sheer utter delightful goodness of things. Our power to see the goodness of things is somewhat impaired and it will remain so he suggests until our sight is restored. We have to learn to see the way that God sees the sun in Chesterton's maximum or the way that Adam saw Eid at last. That, Peeper says, requires a basic attunement with the world. Leisure stands in a kind of radical openness to the real, with a kind of deep amazement and approval.
