Napoleon's First Leave
Napoleon applied for his first leave in early 1787, a little over a year since arriving in Valance. He claimed exhaustion and illness, which everybody probably knew was just an excuse. The army didn't care, one fewer mouth to feed. As you could probably guess, as soon as his leave was granted, Napoleon left for Corsica.
