The Standard View of Forgiveness
I think it's compelling for a few reasons. The main one is that I think it really captures clearly one of the really central experiences that we associate with forgiving, which is that we're angry,. We're upset, we're holding the offense against the offender in a way. And then we're not doing that anymore. But it captures this sort of the moral psychology, I think, very well. So that's the standard view as I see it.
