How Did the Free Way in Berlin Change?

Berlin has gone from being a car-oriented city to one that is more pedestrian and cyclist friendly. But there were still strong lobbies for cars in the east of berlin, which you say didn't help much. Public transit was also extended as part of an effort to make it less car orientated. Now we are trying to fulfill what's been lost by losing free way stops.
