Horses spread from central Europe into almost every corner of ancient Eurasia. In order for horses to be brought into this transport technology, there had to be a couple of important innovations. They actually invented the bridle and the mouthpiece,. That's a new system for controlling an animal that's far more nuanced and effective than anything that existed before. The second was the spoke wheel, right? So these big old sort of Flintstone wheels that were present on those early carts just couldn't handle the forces involved in rapid horse transport.
