Fructose when consumed via a mechanism internally which is generating uric acid then harms the mitochondria, it actually impairs the mitochondria's ability to replenish ATP. So he says this is why there are so many people who are overweight or obese but they don't feel energized. This is all stemming from consuming fructose in his opinion and I think also consuming excessive carbohydrates because as we talked about on last episode the first interview that it with him the body can actually make fructose even if you don't eat any sugar.
