So we're talking about these borderline questions. Why am I not applying the presumption of similarity to this dog entering the room compared to a conscious human being, all right? And so what about systems which have certain features which are structure organizationally similar but fail to meet enough criteria for us to rely on this presumption? There's something about ascribing consciousness to certain systems that either doesn't gel with what we think more generally or maybe just in a kind of deep, visceral, personal way. All right, so this is where I turn to cerebral organoids, and I just want to give sort of a rough definition just overall on the same page about what I mean when I use this phrase.
