Why Do People Leave the Church?
"There's an intellectual problem. Young people are blocking what they take to be either the irrelevance, the stupidity, the superstitious nature of religion," he says. "How could anyone claim that their religion is right? How could you possibly say that yours is right?" He adds: "I'd say a fourth major reason would be scandals in our own church."
