Why Is Nuclear Too Expensive?
The debate about nuclear, a lot of it is about the cost. As far as I can tell, it's not enough cheaper to justify the political fight it would cause. Half of the cost of nuclear is the interest rate on the loan you have to take while you wait to get the plant approved through the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. We artificially increased the price of every pound of concrete and every stainless steel bolt in that nuclear power plant by a factor of five or more. So we should be able to make them cheaper.
