The trailer touted this film as, quote, born of a revenge crazed mind. The real story when it comes to the double doll was actually the practical effects that were employed to create the illusion of humans shrunk down to the size of dolls. While there was some violent imagery in the movie, it was mostly chomedic and light. Miracles for sale was browning's last picture. His reputation had really fered after the release of freaks and the poor reception undoubtedly impacted his relationship with his career. He was banned in sweden on note he couldn't get a movie greenlet because people viewed him as being more trouble than he was worth.
