Introduction

Oakland police chief Laurent Armstrong is demanding he be reinstated and taken off paid leave. Oakland Mayor Shang Tao placed Armstrong on administrative leave after the release of a report, finding he failed to hold officers accountable for misconduct into two incidents that involve the same officer. In one instance, two officers were involved in a hidden run collision with a car in San Francisco in a parking lot, but failed to report it. And another instance, the same officer in the car shot off his gun in an elevator.
