Daniel depho's most famous work is robinson crusoe. The story of a shipwrecked mariner on a desert island who rescues a man from cannibals. A biographer called him a great liar, possibly the greatest liar that ever lived. He contradicted himself within his works and in letters he sent to his employer. And so you have a big problem with deciding precisely what sort of man defo was.
