Corsican lawyer Kristoff Salicetti was elected to the National Assembly in Paris. He quickly became a powerful force behind the scenes. The revolutionary government grew more powerful by the day, and so did Salicetti's influence within it. Napoleon hung a banner outside his family home that read, long live the fatherland,. It's not totally clear whether he meant Corsica or France.
