What if This Time It Really Is Different?
For me, 80 % of my portfolio is structured according to a belief that we are getting back to normal at some stage. Anger, fear, hate and pride can all be triggered in you once you form a belief about the future which is negative and different. But what if you could influence your position right now? What if you cold actually move yourself around a little bit relative to the change that you see coming. You may not be able to control the uncontrollable, but sometimes we can wiggle our way into better places.
For one of the scenarios outlined in this podcast to come to fruition, the US had to be significantly weakened. I believe we witnessed this with the events that unfolded on the 3rd of August (NZT) 2022, where the US pulled out of the opportunity to stand with Taiwan through actions, and not just words. We're living in rather odd times.
It appears the US lost a game checkers to China, who's clearly been playing a game of chess.
It would be disingenuous to say the least, talking about building wealth without simultaneously talking about protecting it. Change is coming - and there ARE things you can do about it. Ignoring what's happening in the world right now, just because it scares you though, well THAT is a very high risk investment strategy.
At the time of recording, I had no idea of the events that were unfolding at the same time, where the US lost a game checkers to China, who's clearly been playing a game of chess.
It would be disingenuous to say the least, talking about building wealth without simultaneously talking about protecting it. Change is coming - there ARE things you can do, but ignoring what's happening in the world right now, just because it scares you, is a very high risk investment strategy.
While the world is watching what they believe is a kinetic war unfold, elsewhere, the war's just getting started.
If you're still investing as if everything's getting back to normal, honestly, that's awesome. If you're investing in such a way where it isn't, even just a little, better still.
