Why the Sunday Obligation?

The Catechism of the Catholic Church in paragraph 2181 affirms this. The faithful are obliged to participate in the Eucharist on days of obligation unless excused for a serious reason. Of course, what we've been experiencing with the COVID experience would fall under that category being dispensed by our bishops. Those who deliberately fail in this obligation commit a grave sin.
