Hawkins's career remained in the doll roms until 19 65, when two things happened almost simultaneously. The first was that nina simon recorded a cover version of i put a spell on you, which made the top 30 in the us Charts. The second was that hawkins got rediscovered in quite a big way. She presumably didn't know that he was still married to his first wife at the time.
