In the book, you try to formulate cruelty less as an individual attribute, more as a structural feature of mrian politics itself. Yet, that's an interesting way to put it, cruelty as a means to community formation. I mean, i think if you look, for example, at the turn of the twentieth century, there is a deliberate effort on the part of the white economical leads in the south to win over the white working class by engaging in virulent white supremacis raceism. It shatters this sort of emerging alliance between black and white populace being built in that era.
