The Importance of Universities in Expanding Human Knowledge
In some ways universities are the canary and the coal mine about how free speech rights are dealt with in general. If American universities cannot do a good job of that, ultimately we'll have consequences for the American society and American economy. And it also has consequences for America's leadership in the world as faculty from across the world have for decades now flocked to the United States precisely because there's loads of academic freedom here.
