Reform of Government Finance - A Better Way

The last corporation to publish financial statements this misleading was enron. Public sector balance sheets can and should be drawn up so that the liabilities of governments can be compared with their assets. Governments should also follow the lead of business and adopt the generally accepted accounting principles. And above all, generational accounts should be prepared on a regular basis to make absolutely clear the intergenerational implications of current policy. If we don't do these things, if we don't embark on a wholesale reform of government finance, i am afraid we are going to end with the bad but more likely, second senario.
