Mental Models of the Earth is a study of conceptual change in childhood by Stella Vosniedu and William F. Brewer published in 1992. This article is about how children conceptualize the shape of the earth. There are special words given to ideas that are wrong in this kind of way that children come to school with. Sometimes they're called preconceptions or alternative frameworks or mental models, folk theories or intuitive theories.
