The ANZACs Lost 2,000 Men on the Day of the Landing

On the day of the landing itself, the ANZACs lost 2,000 men. I don't have the numbers in front of me, but the casualties were just atrocious and there are moments that stand out. The idea was to take a ship full of British soldiers and ground it right opposite Ottoman positions. And of course it just became a charnel house because it was right in the line of fire.
