We're Not There Yet, Is It?

The idea of the Metaverse is that you would basically plug in through virtual reality or augmented reality to experience a connected world like we don't have at the moment. The term has come from a 1992 novel by Neil Stevenson called Snowcrash. And then there's another really influential sci-fi novel called Ready Player One, which came out in 2011. It kind of has given lots of engineers and scientists the idea for what this kind of world could look like.
