Vectorization and Memory Allocation
vectorization gets you automatic four times at least. You would have to be able to bunch together several primitives in a row and figure out that some way to operate on them before you would have a chance of of beating the vectorized primitives. Once once you start operating with named functions you know if it's not plus if it's some user function then you can't optimize over it because the users allow to redefine functions and functions that's a project for the next generation as far as i'm concerned.
