The Importance of Residential Treatment for Addiction

LZ: I'm wondering if you ever encounter patients who have a particularly intractable addiction where their brain just doesn't want to go back to normal. And if that is the case, perhaps this is where some of the pharmaceuticals enter. LZ: Even in those individuals, if they are able to abstain from their drug of choice for four weeks, the majority of them will start to feel substantially better. Of course, they're not gonna be all the way healed and their addiction isn't cured because we think of it as a chronic relapsing and remitting disease.
