The Trade-Offs of Using JSON as the Interchange Format
Air bite is a new way to connect data flows in the cloud. The system uses JSON as an interchange format but there are some trade-offs with that, particularly when it comes to type information and other contextual data. Air bite also has its own catalog which allows for reinterpretation if you lose certain types of data on the exchange side. Another interesting area to dig into is the overall interfaces that you have and the extension points in the system for being able to integrate with the broader ecosystem of data tools like Daxter or Prefect.

Data integration is a critical piece of every data pipeline, yet it is still far from being a solved problem. There are a number of managed platforms available, but the list of options for an open source system that supports a large variety of sources and destinations is still embarrasingly short.
