The Fungus That Colonizes Ghost Moth Caterpillars
The husk left of ghost moth caterpillars is used in traditional Chinese medicines as an immune booster and aphrodisiac. A fungus called Masso Spora Cicch-a-d-n-y infects cicadas, which can spend 13 to 17 years under the age of 14. The spores are then spread by infected flies that have written a sumon abdomen up death pose for optimum spore dispersal.
