Helen Chadwick's Squashy Washing Machine
Helen Chadwick's Squashy Washing Machine is a photograph. She made four of them - fridge, cooker, the sink and the washing machine. Four performers got inside these contraptions and they morphed into their appliances. But she then took a series of photographs in which she went into the machines naked. So it's almost as though she's questioning one stereotype but exploiting another.
