I grew up in similar circumstances, but always felt that if I didn't live below my means, I'd end up living homeless on the street. My wife and I had a year salary saved. She was at UT and had great health benefits. If you want people to have an even playing field, you cannot do any kind of meaningful work if you were worried about your health for many. It's time.
