Northern Island, or British Identity Trumps Economic Self Interest
Northern Ireland has, under the protocol, out performed the rest of the ug economically. Yet despite that, in a sense, british identity trumps economic self interest. People consider their identity to be more important than how many pounds they have in their pockets. Those who live in deprivation or in poverty are the ones who are the last to feel those economic benefits.
