When Mary was eight years old, she began charging older men to have her watch them masturbate. She approached their cars and got inside, then blackmailed them with threats unless they paid her. Police were called when after Mary accidentally used all the hot water for a bath, Betty attempted to drown her in a cold tub. There has been speculation that these were seizures and that they were caused by epilepsy. But there is no scientific data that proves this.
