The Earthen Altar
Rashi points out that this is slightly different than the one used in the temple. And rashi also points out that the ramp is not mentioned, but it's hinted earlier. So essentially, you have all four of these elements represented in the altar. These four elements are the same elements that comprise men. When we mess up, when we sin, we bring a sacrifice on this altar and that provides us atonement.
