The university exists in theory to serve capital and empire and the state, but that's not really the way that it's worked out right. I think they're very smart to go after history like they're doing in Florida right now because history is the most dangerous science. Even if you can't draw a one to one connection okay well, you know, studying this particular peasant revolt in 1381, or you know this war in 1215 or whatnot even if you can’t draw a direct utilitarian connection between that in an actual real life ongoing political social struggleI do think that it forms the zeitgeist of people making sense of their current realities.
