What Really Causes the Financial System to Go Down?
Spencer: What actually causes a good old recession? Get those bars on the Fred graph. Something really bad has to happen. So banking crisis, that's what causes it. The bet is what can crash the economy sufficiently for the Fed to lower interest rates? It's already happening though. And the biggest risk to all of this is oil. If the price of gasoline goes up, that will mean inflation continues to go up. That is this easy lever. I think there's no way after that, that brings down inflation. There's no new fracking thing that's going to happen anytime soon.
