The Americans also had to make this turn where they went from being the allies of the Soviet Union who were all Democrats in the sense of small D. Hollywood was in on this. There were great movies about how the Soviets were the greatest democracy in the world. We had this shift from not to cold war in just a few years. The load stone of what's special about the Soviet Union is now much more Russian culture.
