The Gospels of Matthew and Luke
I don't think that Matthew and Luke were making up the story. I think both of them had heard stories. And so my sense is that most of the time they're just giving their version based on stories that they've heard in their own Christian communities. The, a big problem with, with the gospels is that they are written 40 years after Jesus' death by somebody who wasn't there.
