The Scottish Government's Decision to Ban Genetically Modified Organisms

This is actually a long standing policy for the Scottish government. There has been a broad rejection of genetically modified organisms that predates the relaxation and the EU laws. And would that have been your advice, had you still been in the post, if this decision was taken last year? It would be one of my parts of advice. I would have assembled the experts in GM crops and also experts in dialogue with the public about scientific matters. So it's not like volcanic ash that happened very suddenly, and we need advice very suddenly. This has been going on for a very long time.
