The Power of Imagination
I'm much more like a musician playing the violin. For me, mathematics is just an instrument that I enjoy playing and I don't care whether the problem is important or not. And so some of the best things I've done have been completely unimportant. The discovery of something new means being open to the revelation that things are not as we have hitherto understood them. It seems to be so very important that there be stories and examples that can inspire the imagination of young people.
