Sneha: I have thought so much about over the years why the elders around me cared so much about white approval of our traditions and it's the same colonial hangover isn't it? It's like goodness it's the history of ethnomusicology on some level. She says she hopes that what switching to thinking about transnationalism will allow us to do is to look at diaspora in a new way. Sneha: Diaspora has meaningful analytical possibilities but I don't know that it is adequate to explain cast race power that allows for the kinds of mobility that we're describing about dance.
