How Do You Know if You Have Good Relationships?
How do you know that an effect isn't being driven by something else, like your income or where you were born? Well, that's a methodology question, an important one. What we try to do is statistically level the playing field, control for in the jargon, control for these other things. And then, if we still see an effect, then we know we've got something. If the effect goes away, then we say, Oh, well, okay, so maybe this is more about social class. And it's not about what we think it is.
