Gavin Smith: The effect of it is that her MPs feel emboldened. Her MPs who aren't on her side, now feel emboldened to push for any changes. She's already learned over the 45P rate that these kind of threats don't work. If MPs work out that enough of them are opposed to something, it's a completely toothless threat. What they actually need is a sensible whipping operation does a proper ring round and finds out where the party is.
