Python's demand has led to quite a bit of supply and all sorts of different like aspects, run times definitely being one of them. Even if you just focus on CPython, I think the performance story is super nuanced and interesting and non-obvious. So basically it allows you to focus on what matters when you take that to a macro level. There are people out there who have gone through that same workflow and have generalized out libraries that you can then take advantage of their optimizations.
